Extending the golden hour to golden days.

A needle-free bandage you seal over a wound. Squeeze the bulb and a gentle current drives medication into the tissue — fighting infection, slowing bleeding, and easing pain right at the point of injury, to help extend the ‘golden hour.’

The Active Bandage applied to a wound in the field
The Active Bandage in the field — sealed over the wound, activated, and delivering medication.
The part that feels like magic

Seal it, and the medicine goes in — no needle.

Once the bandage is sealed, a gentle current takes over: charged medication is set in motion and carried straight through the skin into the wounded tissue — antimicrobial, clotting agent, or anesthetic, delivered where the injury is, without a single puncture.

Simple & disposable to make

A few disposable parts

A central hub — low-power driver, battery, and a squeeze-bulb medication port.
Two flexible electrode wings — printed multichannel electrode arrays that conform to the wound.
A sealing adhesive backing — stops bleeding and fluid loss; no cold chain, stores like a plaster.
Advanced in treatment & care

Clinic-grade delivery, on the skin

Mitigate infection, slow bleeding, manage pain — three jobs from one bandage.
Any medication, while sealed — squeeze the bulb to drive antimicrobial, anesthetic, or clotting agent through the port.
Multichannel electrodes at <0.6 mA each distribute current uniformly and avoid the ’current tunneling’ of single-electrode devices.
Clean, painless, hands-free — seal it and it goes to work.
Cross-section of the Active Bandage in operation — the driver and battery power independently current-regulated micro-electrodes that carry medication down into the wound
In operation — independently current-regulated micro-electrodes (<0.6 mA per channel) drive medication down into the tissue
How it works

Seal · activate · manage

Seal the bandage over the wound to stop bleeding and fluid loss. Activate — squeeze the bulb to deliver medication through the port while the bandage stays sealed, as multichannel iontophoresis drives it into the tissue. Manage the casualty with continuous treatment — extending the golden hour to golden days.

The economics

Simple, disposable production; clinic-grade treatment out — strong margins, a large unmet market, real human impact.

Underside — the bladder seals the wound; the electrode wings deliver medicine through it
The seal

A bladder that closes the wound

On the underside, a conforming bladder presses down to seal the wound — stopping blood and fluid loss — while the two multichannel electrode wings lie flat against the tissue and deliver medication through the seal. One device stops the bleeding and treats.

Status

From trials to the field

Validated core

The delivery core is pre-clinically validated at LSU (via the dental device) and sits at TRL-6; the trauma bandage itself is at TRL-3, seeking a development partner.

Target uses

Combat & field medicine, emergency care, dental, and chronic wounds — anywhere care is far away or a needle isn’t an option.

Federal grant track

Advancing under a submitted SBIR Phase I proposal for battlefield trauma care.

Regulatory path

Built on the FDA-cleared Medion iontophoresis predicate device.

Why it matters

Over 90% of battlefield deaths occur before reaching care; about 25% are survivable.

Design and layout per Henley Ion’s patent-pending iontophoretic wound-treatment device — US Pub. 2023/0036822 A1. TEK Bandage = Transdermal Electro-Kinetic Wound Bandage.

What it improves

More time to save life, limb, and eyesight

The bandage is configuration- and medication-agnostic — the core transdermal technology integrates into any bandage platform and delivers whatever the situation calls for.

Care, sooner

Immediate access to higher-level medical care at the point of injury — antimicrobial to stop infection, a clotting agent to slow bleeding, or an anesthetic for pain, all while the wound stays sealed.

Time, extended

More time to save life, limb, and eyesight after a traumatic injury — turning the golden hour into golden days of continuous treatment.

Logistics, eased

Simpler mass-casualty medical-evacuation logistics — one lightweight, shelf-stable device that treats while it waits for transport.

What we’re looking for

Access to military-grade labs and testing, user feedback to custom-fit the core technology to existing field equipment, and R&D funding to reach the field. Download the one-pager (PDF) or get in touch.

Partner with us

Help take the Active Bandage to the field.

The delivery core is validated and patented. What it needs now is a partner to carry the trauma bandage from prototype to the point of injury.
