The original Henley Ion site — preserved.
This page archives the content of the founding henleyion.com site as it was first published. It’s kept here for continuity and reference. For the current, expanded product line and validation, use the main site — each section below links to its up-to-date equivalent.

“We build things that save lives.”
Disruptive technological innovations in respiratory protection, sanitation, and medicine delivery — built on the patented miniaturized Electrostatic Precipitator (mEP): 21st-century respiratory protection and air-purification effective against nuclear, biological, and chemical contaminants.
21st Century Respiratory Protection — the Virus Defender
How it was described
Dr. Julian Henley — a Harvard- and Yale-trained scientist-physician — developed the miniaturized electrostatic precipitator (mEP) for modern respiratory protection. As originally published, the Henley mEP system was “99.8% effective at capturing and killing particles as small as 0.125 microns,” including COVID, anthrax, and tear gas, with aerosol testing conducted at the Tulane National Primate Research Center BSL-3 laboratory. (For accuracy: independent Tulane testing measured 99.8% removal of aerosolized SARS-CoV-2, comparable to N95/HEPA for sub-0.3 µm particles.)
Original feature list
21st Century Air Purification
The same industry-proven electrostatic-precipitation technology — long used to keep pollutants out of the environment — adapted for the human being and for buildings. As originally presented, the Henley Ion air-purification system installs into HVAC to deliver clean air against airborne bioaerosols across a whole space.
Extending the “golden hour” to golden days
Following the combination with a transdermal (electrokinetic) drug-delivery patent portfolio, the original site introduced a needle-free medicine-delivery platform built on multichannel iontophoresis — regulating multiple current paths independently to avoid the “current tunneling” of single-electrode devices.
Dental anesthesia
Full-mouth local anesthesia in about four minutes — without a needle.
Trauma bandage
The Henley trauma bandage for wound management, with antimicrobial delivery at the point of injury.
Virus Defender
Respiratory protection removing >99% of SARS-CoV-2 bioaerosols.
The miniaturized Electrostatic Precipitator (mEP)
How it works — as described
Air enters an ionization chamber where an emitter rod releases electrons; incoming bioaerosols (viruses, bacteria, fungi, allergens) attach to those electrons and are drawn to a positively-charged collector wall — so the wearer breathes in clean air. Exhaled breath passes through the same chamber, protecting others if the wearer is infected.

Dr. Julian Henley
Educated at Harvard University (magna cum laude in Applied Mathematics & Physics) and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Henley is a physician and board-certified specialty surgeon who taught and practiced at Yale School of Medicine for 22 years. A head-and-neck specialist, he pioneered the use of computer simulation in facial reconstructive surgery, invented a novel artificial larynx, and holds over 35 patents and patents-pending. He has collaborated with faculty at MIT and industrial leaders including Dow Corning.
Limitless industry applications
As originally presented: the mEP can be applied across a wide range of industries to protect people’s health and safety.
