The record so far
A short timeline of the peer review, validation, and corporate milestones behind the technology.
Published in Viruses
The mEP respirator was independently studied and published in the peer-reviewed journal Viruses: “A Miniaturized Electrostatic Precipitator Respirator Effectively Removes Ambient SARS-CoV-2 Bioaerosols” (Viruses 2022, 14(4):765).
Two platforms, one company
Henley Ion combined its respiratory-protection work with a transdermal (electrokinetic) drug-delivery patent portfolio — the origin of today’s two-platform product line spanning the body and the air. Read the announcement ↗
SBIR Phase I proposals
The trauma bandage and CBRN respirator are advancing under submitted SBIR Phase I proposals for point-of-injury battlefield care; the mask work is supported by an NIH grant on TB-transmission control.
99.8% of SARS-CoV-2 removed
BSL-3 testing at the Tulane National Primate Research Center measured 99.8% removal of aerosolized SARS-CoV-2 by the hybrid mEP respirator.
Needle-free anesthesia
Pre-clinical studies at the LSU School of Dentistry validated the multichannel electrokinetic delivery core behind the dental device and the Active Bandage.
FDA-cleared predicate
The transdermal delivery platform is built on the FDA-cleared Medion iontophoresis predicate device — a defined regulatory path.
Published & validated
Henley Ion’s technologies are independently validated and grant-supported — including 99.8% removal of aerosolized SARS-CoV-2 in testing at the Tulane National Primate Research Center, needle-free anesthesia studies at the LSU School of Dentistry, an NIH grant supporting the mask, and submitted SBIR Phase I proposals.
